Visas for medical reasons

Visas are required for members of official delegations.

Visas for tourists

Visas for study, research, or training are available.

Transit visas for airports

Visas for Slovenian nationals’ spouses.

While these visas enable foreign nationals to enter Slovenia, they do not provide them the ability to reside and work there indefinitely. Foreign nationals will need to get a Single Work and Residence permit for this.

Slovenia Work Visa Requirements

Foreign employees who are not nationals of European Union (EU) or European Economic Area (EEA) member states will require a Single Work and Residence visa to work in Slovenia. This permit is also known as a Single Permit. Applicants must supply the following papers in order to receive this permit:

A valid passport.

At the time of application, a passport photo and fingerprints will be obtained.

Evidence showing the applicant has health insurance in Slovenia.

A recent criminal background check from the applicant’s home country.

A bank statement demonstrating that the applicant has the financial resources to maintain oneself in Slovenia.

In rare situations, the applicant may be required to attend an interview with Slovenian authorities at the embassy in their home country.

Vital Points to Bear in Mind

Because Slovenia is a member of the European Union (EU), the rules and regulations governing the requirement for a work permit do not apply to nationals of other EU member countries who intend to work in Slovenia. Even said, EU residents will still need to apply for a residence permit if they intend to stay in Slovenia for more than three months.
