Program details
Mathey Farms is a small regenerative farm located in Alberta, Canada. Regenerative agriculture farming describes farming and grazing practices that, among other benefits, reverse climate change by rebuilding soil organic matter and restoring degraded soil biodiversity – resulting in both carbon drawdown and improving the water cycle. This is the most ethical way to raise animals to ensure that they have a quality life.
About the work exchange program
Words from your host
“We are a regenerative farm that would love to host in exchange for farm help. We have many projects planned for the summer and would love so help in exchange for the experience of living on a farm close to the mountains and exploring the beautiful countryside. We have pigs, sheep, chickens, cows and turkeys. We attend weekly farmers markets to sell our product. Some of our summer projects include pasture clearing, wood chopping, fence building and painting, chicken tractors, animal shelters and the garden.
Depending on the time of your visit we will provide a RV to stay in and food. We share meal prep and would ask that you help with this as well. If cooking is your passion that can be part of the exchange. As we are a farm most of the meals do include meat that we produce. Wifi is included. There is no public transport so we recommend that you have access to a vehicle or you may feel a bit isolated as we are 20 minutes from town. We have many lakes and the closest is 10 minutes away.”
